Our Story

The idea to start a yoga studio was born on a full moon. After we completed our Forrest Yoga 200 hour Foundation Teacher Training in May 2013, We knew we wanted to help Ana Forrest with her mission of "mending the hoop of the people." We also knew we wanted to live somewhere with warmth and beautiful nature, and lots of weirdos.

Immediately following teacher training, we started the idea of developing our own line of yoga apparel to help support our financially precarious decision to become yoga teachers. Rosie also left her job as a clinical massage therapist in a Chiropractor's office, and began her own practice from home. In the last 18 months, the name of The Little Volcano has grown and we felt the desire to share our passion with even more people.

Through a series of serendipitous events we decided to move to Asheville, knowing that we had been guided by spirit to do so. We moved our things from Chicago and set up our studio all in one week, battling a wicked head cold.

We hope to open up our lives and share our passions with Asheville, creating our own tribe of Forrest Yogis and artists here. We feel that our mission here is to help our students find their own authentic healing experiences in a clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.

We've recently started carrying locally made crafts and art as well as healing tools we connect with. In the near future, you'll be able to shop a selection of sage, palo santo, crystals, bach flower essences and handmade pottery, jewelry, art and apparel. If you're interested in showing your work here, please email us at thelittlevolcano@gmail.com and include some photos of recent work and a website if you have one.
